Cabinet discusses post-victory reconstruction, improving public services


Baghdad – The Cabinet held its weekly regular meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi.

The Cabinet discussed post-victory reconstruction, economic policy, the forthcoming provincial and parliamentary elections as well as the 2018 draft federal budget.

The Cabinet also reviewed the government’s strategy to improve public services across Iraq, and discussed implementation of performance-management systems in Iraq’s public sector.

The Cabinet received a briefing on the progress of the integrated monitoring security system for the city of Baghdad and surrounding areas, and made recommendation to improve its performance and effectiveness.

The Cabinet reviewed electricity supply provision across Iraq and discussed measures to support the roll out of plans to provide uninterrupted power to homes and businesses in all of Iraq’s provinces.

The Cabinet agreed that the 10th of December each year will be a national public holiday to mark the total defeat of Daesh and the liberation of all of Iraq’s territories.
