The Cabinet held its regular weekly meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi.
The Prime Minister briefed the Cabinet on the latest domestic and regional developments.
The Prime Minister outlined the details of a number of directives aimed at creating new job opportunities for Iraqi university graduates.
The Prime Minister directed that recruitment can begin to fill posts left vacant since 2017 in ministries and public bodies across Iraq, with 15% of all posts allocated to holders of post-graduate degrees.
The Prime Minister also directed that the share of posts allocated to holders of post-graduate degrees at public universities and colleges be increased to no less than 30%.
The Prime Minister also directed that holders of post-graduate degrees form no less than 60% of new recruits to teaching posts at Iraqi private universities and educational institutions.
The Prime Minister directed that relevant authorities take the necessary measures to ensure compliance with the provisions of Article 30 of Investment Law No 2 for 2009 which stipulate that Iraqi nationals make up 50% of the workforce in investment projects.
The Prime Minister directed that the Ministry of Oil and other government agencies include clauses in contracts to be concluded with foreign companies stipulating that Iraqi nationals make up no less than 50% of their engineering professionals.
