The Cabinet held its regular weekly meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi.
The Iraqi government earlier announced that it was proposing to amend the law to reduce the retirement age for all state employees to 60 years, except for those working in the university sector where the age of retirement will be 63.
The government also intends to reduce the voluntary retirement age to 45 years, provided the employee has completed 15 years in service.
The Cabinet discussed other implementation measures to enact several initiatives announced by the Iraqi government to address the grievances of protestors.
