Baghdad – The Cabinet held its weekly regular meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi.
The Cabinet approved an amendment to the 2015 intelligence-sharing agreement with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to further deepen the security cooperation between the two countries.
The Cabinet approved measures to enhance performance and evaluation mechanisms of state institutions to ensure that they are focused on the delivery of key public services.
The Cabinet ordered the formation of a dedicated unit attached to the Cabinet Office to monitor, evaluate and coordinate the delivery of essential services to residents in Baghdad and other regions of Iraq.
The Cabinet received a briefing on the visit by the Prime Minister to Basra province in southern Iraq, and reviewed planned infrastructure projects in the region.
The Cabinet discussed the return of displaced people to their home in liberated areas. The Cabinet instructed state agencies and local authorities to take measures to ensure that people who have settled in areas outside their original place of residence and who wish to stay are supported and that their choice is respected.
