    Cabinet discusses measures for rapid implementation of new government programme


    The Cabinet held its weekly regular meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi.

    The Cabinet received a briefing from Prime Minister Abd Al-Mahdi on the opening of the so called ‘Green Zone’ area in Baghdad to normal traffic, national security and ongoing counter-terrorism operations to hunt down Daesh remnants.

    The Cabinet discussed measures to ensure rapid implementation of the new Iraqi government programme, with a focus on improving public services across Iraq.

    The Cabinet reviewed plans for the introduction of e-government across the public sector as part of the Iraqi government broader strategy to improve delivery of key services to citizens, promote good governance, combat corruption and reduce red tape.

    The Cabinet agreed to suspend all decisions and directives by the last Council of Ministers issued between 1/7/2018 and 24/10/2018, pending a comprehensive review to assess their effectiveness in supporting the new Iraqi government key priorities.
