    Cabinet discusses preparations for May’s provincial, parliamentary elections

    The Cabinet meeting in Baghdad in Tuesday 09/01/2018

    Baghdad – The Cabinet held its weekly regular meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi.

    The Cabinet discussed preparations for provincial and parliamentary elections scheduled for 12 May 2018.

    The Cabinet approved a financial allocation for Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) which oversees elections in Iraq.

    The Cabinet discussed measures to support the registration and participation of internally displaced citizens in the May elections.

    The Cabinet instructed federal agencies to work with the Independent High Electoral Commission and local authorities to remove all impediments to the full participation of voters in Nineveh and Anbar provinces in the elections.
