    Cabinet reviews measures to improve essential services in Iraq


    The Cabinet held its weekly meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi.

    The Cabinet reviewed ongoing measures to improve key essentials services across Iraq with a focus on improving access to health care provisions, and approved a reduction in nominal fees for certain health services.

    The Cabinet discussed the mechanisms and conditions governing the ability of local municipalities to borrow capital to finance local projects.

    The Cabinet approved Iraq’s accession to the Protocol on Preparedness, Response and Co-operation to pollution Incidents by Hazardous and Noxious Substances, 2000.

    The Cabinet also approved a draft law on Iraq’s accession to the Hague Conference on Private International Law.

    The Council approved the establishment of an honorary consulate for the Federal Republic of Germany in Basra province.

    The Cabinet decided to declare Tuesday 2nd April 2019 an official public holiday in Iraq on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Musa Al-Khadim (PBUH).
