    The Cabinet reviews mechanisms to strengthen accountable governance


    The Cabinet held its weekly regular meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi.

    The Cabinet received briefing on national security and measures to secure Iraq‘s borders.

    The Cabinet discussed strengthening accountable governance, and reviewed mechanisms to improve the performance of both federal and provincial agencies responsible for the delivery of public services.

    The Cabinet approved a reduction in import tariffs on medical equipment, health supplies, medicines, agricultural supplies, production equipment, construction tools, and English language books.

    The Cabinet also discussed a range of other issues, including public services in the provinces, higher education and tourism.
