The Cabinet approves the amendment of the Census Law and the draft law for female Yazidi survivors

The Cabinet held its regular session in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi.

The Cabinet approved the first amendment of the General Population and Housing Census law no. 40 of 2008.

The Cabinet authorised the General Company for Trading and Processing Grain (Ministry of Trade) to borrow a trillion and four hundred billion Iraqi dinars from TBI (Trade Bank of Iraq) for paying the dues of farmers for the year 2019.

The Cabinet also approved the draft law for Yazidi female survivors. The draft law will be forwarded to the State Council, which will be responsible for auditing it and returning it to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. It will then be sent directly to the Council of Representatives.

The Cabinet discussed writing treaty reports for conventions which Iraq had adhered to or ratified, including:

    1. the Republic of Iraq’s report on the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.
    2. the Republic of Iraq’s report on the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance.
    3. the Republic of Iraq’s report on the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
